Blackboard Inc. Announces Reseller Agreement with MICROS Systems, Inc.

Companies to Deliver Integrated Offering to Benefit Higher Education Clients

Washington, DC — June 11, 2003 — Blackboard Inc., a leading enterprise software company for e-Education, has signed a value added reseller agreement with MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, to resell MICROS Point-of-Sale (POS) systems into the U.S. higher education market.

Under the terms of the agreement, Blackboard Inc. will resell the MICROS 3700 and 9700 POS systems. Additionally, MICROS is developing an interface between its POS systems and the Blackboard Transaction System™, utilizing the Blackboard Building Blocks specification.

MICROS Point-of-Sale Solutions are designed to integrate all functions of both front-end and back-office restaurant service, retail service and more. MICROS utilizes the industry’s most advanced POS technology to deliver maximum flexibility and scalability. The MICROS POS product line enhances the Blackboard Transaction System by providing a comprehensive POS system and back-office application to manage a college or university’s dining and restaurant facilities.
