Equipment Systems and Devices, Inc (ESD) of Ft. Washington, PA has acquired the assets of Schlumberger Danyl Inc, of Moorestown, NJ, a business unit of SchlumbergerSema; the transaction was completed on October 28, 2002.
ESD, incorporated in 1969, manufactures a complete line of mechanical and electronic payment system solutions and management software for the commercial self-service laundry and vending industries. ESD products include smart cards, smart card readers, smart card revalue terminals, door access control systems, copier, printer and PC control and access systems, data management software, coin accepting devices, security products and secure coin storage vaults.
Schlumberger Danyl Inc. is a manufacturer of card based payment system solutions and supporting software, designed to serve the corporate campus, the college and university market, reprographic and print service providers and self service laundry equipment operators.
“This acquisition offers our company a great opportunity to enhance our product offerings to ESD customers, and expand our reach to include Danyl customers”, said Harvey Gitlin, President of ESD. “For many years ESD has been the leading provider of smart card products for the commercial laundry and vending industries and while Danyl has been well known as a pioneer in laundry and vending, they are also well established in the campus and reprographic markets. By combining the resources of these two industry leaders, ESD will be better positioned to advance the advantages of card based payment system technology”. Gitlin added, “This acquisition will not only stimulate our company’s growth by increasing our share in existing markets, but it will also introduce us to a much broader segment of the population through payment system product offerings to new market segments”.
ESD will establish a new division to be known as E-Danyl, which will market all products, supporting software and cards currently offered by Schlumberger Danyl Inc., including the Primeflex Valet System, the Payflex OPUS System, Smart Campus Access and the SingleCard magnetic stripe system.
